"With a green thumb and a passion for the wild heart of life", we grow high quality organic produce including olive oil, honey, garlic, Padron, Nora and Piquillo peppers and many other heritage vegetables.
Greenman Produce was born of the desire to create a space where sustainable practices could be modelled and pure food grown for friends and family.
Now, from Rivernest, our organic farm on the banks of Margaret River, we supply the local market, many fine restaurants and customers Australia-wide.
Broad acre farming and supermarket wars have made a rarity of old style farming practices. But here at Greenman Produce , we strive for quality over quantity. We believe the taste and health benefits of naturally grown food speak for themselves.
Our 56 acre farm has been registered with NASAA for almost two decades. Cleared by early settlers around the 1920s, it was used for dairying until the 1990s when our model organic olive grove was established. We acknowledge the traditional Noongar owners of the land
Acclaimed in local press as man with a 'green thumb and a passion for the wild heart of life' .. Mike was country-raised and growing his own food by age seven. As natural farming techniques have fallen away elsewhere, he remains committed to the principles of sustainable farming and organic soil management.
Mike holds two Delicious State Finalist Awards for his vegetables and has been selling his produce to top restaurants for more than a decade. Indeed WA's top chefs drive many of the decisions about what Greenman Produce will grow. We love this connection - the passion and vitality of great young chefs is the perfect counterpoint for the love and energy we put into the earth.
The Greenman is the archetype of man's positive connections with life and nature. He is traditionally represented as a bearded man, part of, and surrounded by green foliage, and yes, our founder Mike does like growing things and he does have a beard (he hasn't seen a razor since his mates played a practical joke whilst he was sleeping after his 21st birthday celebrations).
In exploring the surface likeness, we found the Greenman represents freshness of spirit and eternal vitality, admitting the connection that we are one with nature, and giving care and protection to the land in return for the land's abundance. We believe honouring the deep truths of these connections in our business name brings us and our customers face to face with the credo of the Greenman on a daily basis.
